Stress and Anxiety Specialist
Helping people who experience stress and anxiety is at the heart of what we do. Our journey to becoming hypnotherapists began with a desire to help a close family member who was struggling with stress and anxiety. Through that personal experience, we gained a deep understanding of the impact it can have on daily life.
Let’s take a look at what causes stress and anxiety, and how we can beat it
Why do we experience stress and anxiety?
Stress and anxiety are natural responses designed to protect us from danger. They are part of our body’s fight or flight system, preparing us to respond to threat. But in modern life this system can become over active, causing unwanted stress or anxiety.
We experience unwanted anxiety or stress because the way we think is triggering our fight or flight system. It goes on to release stress hormones in the body and mind, putting us on red alert, literally preparing us for danger. The limbic system is responsible for our fight, flight or freeze response; it’s the original, primitive and emotional part of the brain; it doesn’t understand or interpret modern times, it needs help.
When our limbic system senses danger, it immediately tries to keep you safe. It releases stress hormones like cortisol, which can cause the familiar feelings of anxiety — a racing heart, quickened breathing, or even panic. These reactions are simply your body’s way of preparing you to fight or escape from perceived threats.
Our brains are brilliant at protecting us from danger — great if we’re facing real threats, but not so great when we’re just trying to get through a normal day
The health benefits of beating anxiety
Beating anxiety can help you sleep better, boost your immune system, and support your mental health. When anxiety takes hold, your body goes into “survival mode,” focusing on perceived danger and putting other needs on hold — including rest and recover
How does hypnotherapy help with anxiety?
Our thoughts can fuel anxiety, but they can also be the key to overcoming it. Clinical hypnotherapy helps you reconnect with your subconscious, giving you the tools to take back control, ease anxiety, and enjoy greater calm, wellbeing, and happiness.
